VIVID COATS

Who we are

Vivid Coats is a multi award-winning, family-owned and operated painting and decorating business based in Gippsland. Founded by tradie couple Marcus and Steph, we’re powered by a youthful, passionate, and committed team that shares our drive to deliver standout work and make a meaningful impact.

Our vision is to inspire beauty, evoke emotion, and create vibrant spaces that enrich the lives of everyone who experiences them.

Since launching in 2017, Vivid Coats has become a trusted name for residential painting and commercial painting services across Gippsland and the surrounding areas. Every project is an opportunity to bring colour, care, and creativity to life—whether it’s a fresh house painting makeover or a large-scale commercial project.

We’re especially proud to be leaders in creating opportunities for women in trades, holding the highest ratio of female team members of any local trade company. This is part of our commitment to shaping a stronger industry: one that’s skilled, inclusive, and future-focused. We invest in our people, supporting and training our painters to grow as both exceptional tradespeople and confident, capable individuals.

As proud members of the Master Painters Association (MPA), we continue to set high standards, entering our projects to be judged and showcasing the level of craftsmanship and pride that defines our work.

At Vivid Coats, we love what we do, and we love doing it together as a team. It’s exciting to be Vivid.

At Vivid Coats, every project is more than just a paint job, it’s a chance to create something meaningful with people we value. We’re passionate about getting to know each client, building lasting relationships, and treating every space as if it were our own. While we’re on-site, our clients become teammates, working alongside us to bring their vision to life. And when the work is done, they remain forever part of our Vivid Family.

Every project tells a story, from detailed interior painting to transformative exterior painting and standout commercial painting projects. Some of these stories shine a little brighter than others, and here are a few of our favorites that make us especially proud!

As painters, we don’t often get to fully experience the atmospheres we help create inside people’s homes, it would be a little strange to sit on a client’s couch and say, “this is a nice spot.” That’s why being part of a project where we can enjoy the space ourselves is such a treat, and Hughey’s Bar at McCartins Hotel was as good as it gets. Marcus and the team were thrilled to take on this commercial painting project, and you’ll often still find us there enjoying team knock-offs and their amazing woodfired pizzas.

To ensure a smooth project for our clients, other trades, and our finish, we worked nights starting at 6pm and finishing around 2am. Since this 125-year-old heritage building needed to stay warm (paint doesn’t like 2-degree temps), our team had to adapt, but the results were worth it.

Each night, we shared team dinners, took turns playing music, and kept the energy fun and positive. The finish we achieved was fantastic, and it’s something we’re proud of every time we visit.

At Vivid Coats, we love being part of community projects that leave a lasting mark. Whether it’s residential painting, commercial spaces, or heritage restorations, it’s rewarding to know our work is brightening the world around us and being enjoyed by so many.

We’ve been lucky to work on so many incredible custom homes over the years, and this one stands out for its beauty and character. It’s not the biggest or most expensive project we’ve taken on, but the look and feel of the home is simply stunning. Built by a respected local builder known for being meticulous and thorough, it was a pleasure to collaborate on.

Our clients experienced homeowners building their final dream home, had high expectations for the finish. They were blown away by the results our team delivered. The large country-style residence features a classic weatherboard exterior with a matching double garage. The 30-meter front façade is complete with lining boards to the eave under the verandah, creating timeless street appeal.

Inside, the main living area is pure perfection. A tall raked ceiling with exposed beams and lining boards flows through large sliding glass doors to the outdoor entertaining area. Above, expansive highlight windows flood the living space with natural light, creating a “wow” factor that’s hard to beat.

This home’s warmth captures you instantly, and every design choice the clients made enhances its charm. Combined with our attention to detail in both the interior painting and exterior painting, it’s easy to see why this project sits at the top of the boss’s favorites list.

This project is something truly special to us, and it comes with a little backstory.

Leongatha Children’s Centre is a community resource run by the community, for the community. As a not-for-profit association led by a family-based Committee of Management, it plays a huge role in supporting local families. Like many parents, we know the daily routine of dropping little ones at daycare or kinder so we can go to work. It’s not always easy, sometimes there are tears on the way in, on the way out, or even in the car park.

Wanting to give back, we approached the centre’s managers about creating something to brighten the space and make mornings more fun for the kids. Together with Paula, the manager, we decided to transform the entryway. The project turned out to be bigger than we first imagined, but Marcus loved the idea of making drop-offs more joyful.

We donated our time, skills, tools, and materials, with paint sponsorship from our friends at Haymes Paint. Over a weekend, we prepared the concrete and began our community painting project. Using five bright, playful colours, we designed a geometric path where children could hop from one colour to the next all the way to the front door. By Monday, with sections safely barricaded, families could enter while little ones excitedly asked what we were doing. Our answer was simple: “Why not, do you like it?” Every child shouted, “YEAH!”

The goal was simple: make drop-off just a little easier on those tough days.

At Vivid Coats, we believe we’re more than just painters. Our purpose goes beyond finishes and brushstrokes, we want to change the world around us, inspire beauty, evoke emotion, and leave behind vibrant spaces that enrich lives. This project is the perfect example of that vision in action, and one we’ll always be proud of.
